Today, the members of one of the largest pentecostal organizations in the world mourns the loss of their beloved leader and prelate Bishop Gilbert Earl Patterson. A mighty leader, a spirit filled preacher and an effective witness. We shall miss him and cherish every moment we’ve spent in his presence. It is with great sorrow felt on the news of this great leader’s passing. Bishop Patterson was such an imspiration to the ministry, I would watch him on every Sunday (BET)and sometimes again that evening on TBN.
He is one of the most gracious and encouraging figures in my lifetime. He will truly be missed but not forgotten. My prayers and the prayers of countless others goes out to the Patterson family as well as the Body of Christ.

Lovingly and sadly we must say good-bye to one of God most humble and loyal servant. A man who knew no boundary when it came to the word of God and the people of God. Presiding Bishop Gilbert Earl Patterson ministry reached beyond every denomination and enter into the hearts of the people. He was not just a Bishop or Preacher to the COGIC, but he was God’s servant and man of the hour to the world. I know that our Heavenly Father called him home for a reason, and I am equally sure when He made the call, he said Gilbert come on home, job well done. My Mother went home in 2004 with love for Bishop Patterson in her heart. In her own words “that is truly a man of God.” To the family, thank you so much for sharing Bishop with us. We will continue to hold you dearly in our heart in prayers and with love; we could not love and appreciate Bishop without loving you.
I was so hurt when i had the news. I looked forward to see on tv when i come home on sunday moring after work. I love to hear his voice and wishing that i was right there with him praiseing the lord. my heart and prays goes out to the family.
Bishop G. E. Patterson will truly be missed. I’m originally from Philadelphia but currently reside in Nassau, Bahamas. As my mother was battling cancer in Philadelphia, we tuned in to Bishop Patterson together every Sunday for our word. She ordered many tapes of his sermons to get her through the tough times. My mother passed away last December. I decided to continue to watch Bishop Patterson although mom is no longer here. Now, Sundays will never be the same. I pray that God gives the family much strength during their time of sorrow.

I was saddened to hear the news of Bishop Patterson’s passing. He was such an outspoken man of GOD. Have no doubt that he is now with the LORD and if he is with the LORD and the LORD has promised to be with us then we are NEVER far apart. To the Patterson family, be encouraged, prayerful and know that GOD has a bigger plan for this Great Bishop and he only let us borrow him for a brief time. We are deeply saddened to hear about Bishop Pattersons’ passing. Our prayers are with Sister Patterson and his congregation.; also with the Churches of God in Christ. As we mourn with you we also rejoice that Bishops’ faith has been made sight. I will continue to pray for all of you.
Hearing of the going home of Dr. Patterson, just left me sort of void; I would set my alarm so I would not miss him. How many preachers make you shout and praise God in your own living room? I only know two and Dr. Patterson was one of them.
I ask myself, whom will replace that resounding “voice” you have to be born with a voice like that you know; you cannot learn it. I ask myself whom will introduce me to the heavenly father now as Dr. Patterson did and make me believe it. I ask myself who will give me that wonderful feeling of fulfillment through TV as Dr. Patterson did.
I guess when the Heavenly Father says, “Well done my child, well done,” He really means it and just simply sends His Spiritual vehicle to take you “home”.
To the family I say, “Try to remember that Dr. Patterson was only on loan to you; he was put here to do God’s will and as it always happens he was loved by someone more than you or I could ever love him. But rest assured we will see him again – It’s the Heavenly Father’s promise. And like all good Fathers He never breaks a promise.

When I heard that Bishop Patterson had passed my husband and I were truly saddened. His message was such an inspiration to us. We would
watch him on Sunday morning while getting ready for church and I would catch the same message again on Sunday afternoon while cooking Sunday dinner.

Bishop G.E.Patterson was one of God’s greatest preachers and teacher. The meaning of true saintification and holliness was always displayed in his speech and his lifestyle. Thank God for such a honorable messenger in these last and evil days. Our prayers goes out to his lovely wife and family and to all that was under his leadership. My Sundays started with Bishop Patterson and after church, I came home and watched him again. Two times for the day I would listen to him preach and sometimes sing, this usually calmed and soothed my soul. He was truly an encouragment and an inspiration to me. For as long as he is published for television, I will be watching him.
He will definitely be missed in both the Bahamas and the Cayman Islands.

For the past four years Bishop G.E Patterson was my favorite Bishop to listen to on a daily base. I went on youtube and watched parts of his sermon. I told myself that I was going to meet that man one day because when God calls me for my calling, I want to be just like him. But last week, my friend from the Church of God in Chirst family told me about his death, I was in shock and could not believe that this great man was dead. But I had to remember that the Bible says “precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.” Eventhough I never got the chance to meet this wonderful man God, there is not doubt in my mind or any other person who knows him mind, that he is a Saint. It is so funnythat you put this video on there because last week I was in church I could not stop thinking about when he said its a mystery how God can take a brown cow that eats green grass and you can get from him white milk… and how God can take his black heart and dip it into his red blood and turn him white as snow! I love that line and it is so funny how I was thinking about that in church last week and you have it on here. I just hope that our Lord and Savior blesses the late Bishop G.E Patterson, his family, and close ones.

It is a faithful saying and an awesome declaration that the Apostle Paul gives us as he explained how challenged he was between staying to serve and leaving to rest. I feel in my spirit that even though the Bishop may have wanted to stay…for your sakes…the opportunity to rest from his labor was far too wonderful to pass up.
“To Be Absent From The Body Is To Be Present With The Lord”
Everytime I think of it, I get excited. I imagine that Bishop Patterson did too. I remember him saying it in one of his sermons. Yes…a General has gone home, but always remember, and act accordingly, that before he left he trained and equipped some very capable soldiers! Take what you have learned and apply it to YOUR life.

My heart is truly broken by the passing of, Bishop G. E. Patterson. I never met Bishop but I felt like I knew him– the words of God rang out from his heart when I listened to him preach every Sunday morning from California, Channel 40 – on TBN. Bishop Patterson’s preaching spoke to my Spirit and changed my life. I felt like Bishop Patterson was one of the few preachers remaining that truly preached the “word” of God. Big Business in the Church had not taken over his commitment to taking the word of God to world. Bishop Patterson rightly divided the word of God and carried it to the people, the Holy Spirit within me confirmed the truth that Bishop Patterson spoke.
I will miss him tremendously…, my prayers are with the Patterson’s family during their time of tremendous sorrow, Bishop Patterson was truly sent by God…, I mourn with you.
My heart was truly sadden on the passing of Bishop G.E. Patterson, but I was also glad that he has gone to be with his Lord. When I was a child, he was a house-hold name spoken by my late mother and grandmother, Evangelist Susan Cook, of the Evangelists Cook and Cunningham, of Kelly’s Temple in NYC. My grandmother knew the Bishop and First Lady well. She never missed a Convocation in Memphis. Bishop you will be truly missed by us all. But now the Heavens are rejoicing. I Am Shocked and disappionted, To learn in 2009 that this Man of god is no longer with us. I was raised in the Church if God in Christ.Bishop Patterson was a Man of God I grew up Hearing him preach the word,my grandmother, Mother Anna P. Towns of Dayton, Ohio Made sure that we knew God’s Promise to all of the saints. I grew up in Prayer Garden GOGIC under Elder James MacMahon and Sis Mac. Mother Jones and Mother Burnett raised me as a soldier in the army of God,in sunday school and Young People Willing Worker. And through it all there was Bishop Patterson leading the way. my granny always spoke highly of the Bishop, and how he was always leading those of us in th Sringfield District. I would ask for prayer for myself and my family as we have lost Mother Towns and all the others I have spoken of, but I know they are now fighting the battle on the Holy Mount for all of us who are still left behind to continue the fight on earth.I will be forever Thankful.Praise God Amen.
